He has previously held several senior strategic leadership roles, notably as Director of the in the United Arab Emirates, Dean of in France, and Dean of the Curtin University Business School in Sarawak, Malaysia.

A member of the Royal Society of Arts, Dr Th茅rin holds a Doctorate in Business Administration jointly awarded by Newcastle University and , with a specialisation in learning and innovation within technology-based SMEs.
An author and editor of several books on techno-entrepreneurship, he is widely recognised for his expertise in strategic management, technological innovation and the internationalisation of higher education institutions. He regularly contributes to academic journals and international conferences around the world.
